How it works

A planet you walk around, with 10 billboards on it, all for sale. There are no others: the inventory is finite on purpose.

This is not an auction

You pay and the billboard is yours right then. Nothing to wait for, no clock to race. You keep it until someone else pays more, and then it becomes theirs.

Taking one from its owner costs $2.50 more than they paid. Always $2.50, whether the billboard sits at $20 or at $500: the price only goes up, and how much it goes up is arithmetic you can do in your head.

You can pay over the minimum if you want. It buys no extra time — there is no such thing — but it raises the bar for whoever comes next.

The ten ranks

The billboards form a ranking. Rank comes from how close a billboard is to the spot where everyone lands, which is where the most people walk past, and everything else follows from it: number 1 is the biggest, the one visible from farthest away, and the most expensive.

RankStarting priceTo take it
#1$10$12.50
#2$9$11.50
#3$8$10.50
#4$7$9.50
#5$6$8.50
#6$5$7.50
#7$4$6.50
#8$3$5.50
#9$2$4.50
#10$1$3.50

Those are opening prices. Once a billboard has an owner, what you pay is whatever they paid plus $2.50.

Your site writes the billboard

There is no free text field. You enter your domain and the server reads the name and the description from your own site, out of the tags you already use so your site looks right when someone shares it: og:site_name, <title> and description. The only thing you pick is the color.

That is what makes sign-ups and domain verification unnecessary: a billboard can only repeat what that site says about itself. To change what your billboard says, change those tags and buy it again.

If your site blocks automated reads, this one will tell you the exact reason instead of failing silently.

Buying

Opening checkout holds the billboard for 3 minutes so nobody takes it while you are entering your card. If you take longer, you lose nothing: if nobody bought it meanwhile, your payment still transfers it; and if someone beat you to it, the charge is refunded.

No account needed. The email the payment page collects is what identifies the owner.

The daily stone

Every day there are 5 crystal stones scattered across the meadow, and only one counts. Walk up to one and click to try it. The ones that were not it stay ruled out, so it comes down to covering the planet.

The target is the same for everyone and changes every day at midnight UTC. Time is measured by the server, not by your browser, and the 10 fastest of the day appear on the board under a generated name — nobody types a name, which is another way of having nothing to moderate.

There is no prize. It exists so that people walk the planet and see the billboards: a billboard market nobody walks through is worth nothing.

Other people

You see up to 5 other people walking around at the same time. No rooms and no invites: you arrive and you are put with whoever is there. If the planet is busier, the 5 nearest ones are drawn.
